The U.S. Space and Rocket Center offers a Space Academy program for ages 12-14. Trainees will experience the nation's leading science, math and technology educational programs. Aviation Challenge programs are also offered. With intense training like the Navy Seals, mission planning and execution is taught.
12 and 13 year olds of the world wanted to be commanders of a space shuttle mission.  So far, Space Academy has graduated over 100,000 children.  Space Academy has helped many to see the reason that they need math and science in school.  Many have written back and explained that their experience in Space Academy led them to take more science and math in school and get the degree that they have.  Most children who go to Space Academy don't want to grow up to be astronauts. Ed Buckbee emphasized that in the future there will be a lot of opportunities to work on the space program as a design engineer, software programmer, or recycle specialist.  Many people will have jobs dealing with ways to learn to live in space. Space Academy helps to challenge today's youth to look into such careers.
